Playing With Skunks
Playing With Skunks
Band Bio (Also attached):

You might think that playing with skunks is Durango‘s newest band. The truth is that, after 8 years, 4 albums, and 60+ original songs, the band might now be on its farewell tour.

According to guitarist and song writer Steve Jenkinson, “the 4 album thing might be a little misleading because our fourth album doesn’t come out until this fall and we haven’t really gotten around to making the first three albums yet either”.

Bass player and mixing engineer Jon Westrup says “I feel like that doctor in the original Batman movie who does that hack surgery on Jack Nicholson‘s face and points to all his rusty tools and says “you see what I have to work with here?”.”

Drummer and band therapist Tim Shea explains the bands trajectory this way. “I just want to make sure that we don’t peak too early. At the rate we’re going now, we should start playing stadiums and trashing hotel rooms when we’re 70 something and we shouldn’t lose anyone to an overdose until we’re at least 80. “

Of course, Tim‘s plan for the band goes out the window if Steve moves back to New Zealand so, you might want to get to know this band while you can. Also, starting up a chant of “stay Kiwi stay Kiwi stay...” would be very appreciated at any and all of their live shows!

NIL
Everything is nothing and nothing is everything. In the end there is nothing left Nil is what we will be regardless of our failures and triumphs throughout life. The final score does not matter, what matters is how passionately we live. That is Nil. Born in the desert sands of the 4 Corners region of the southwest, Nil delivers a unique sound blending monolithic riffs and crushing grooves with melodic passages to delve into the psychedelic realm where passion lives. After years of playing music in multiple projects Nil came together in the summer of 2016 with Austin Jacobs on drums, Justin Roberts on guitar, and Aaron Kahwajy on vocals. As the three started developing the sound that is Nil Dylan Jones joined the group on bass adding a superbly heavy groove to the sound. Despite only playing a handful of shows from 2016-2017 the group quickly gained support in the 4 Corners music scene opening up for national acts Superjoint Ritual, Kreator, Devildriver, 1349, King Parrot among others. Early in 2019 the band decided to add a second guitar player in Tyler Kasper bringing a new melodic sound to the band. The live performance of Nil is something to behold as the band delivers pure energy, passion, and a crushing sound. Nil is currently planing to record their first EP Heady Mercury during the summer of 2019.
